Services : Production Parts Approval Process (PPAP)

 The final piece of work before serial production can start is the submission and approval of
 a PPAP pack.
 The pack contains information related to a production 'pre-serial' run and includes
 conformity to design information plus key process readiness indicators.

 The PPAP system enables customers to assess whether design items are ready to be handed
 over to full scale production.
 Tracking the approval rate of suppliers also gives customers visibility of which companies
 are working well and would be considered for new products.

 PPAP "rejection" or "deviation acceptance" can occur due to lack of attention to detail.
 Mistakes are made due to resources being stretched at this stage in a project - staff are
 dealing with pre-serial builds, preparing for ramp-up builds and handing over responsibility
 to serial production departments, as well as verifying PPAP packs.
